C.J. Metcalf is running for Ward 9 Alderman to bring his many experiences in state and local government administration to City Council on behalf of northwestern Springfield, Illinois, neighborhoods.
C.J. and Jenny Metcalf moved to their Ninth Ward home with sons Owen and Jacob in 2014, and the family quickly became involved in the community. They are active within the Harrison Park Neighborhood Association and C.J. was head coach of the Springfield Kings youth hockey team – an experience that inspired him during two terms as a Trustee on the Springfield Park Board.
Time and again, C.J. has shown the tenacity and devotion it takes to do the people’s work. In addition to managing policy and budget needs of the Springfield Park District and maintaining professional certifications for his role in regulatory Illinois state government, C.J. has applied himself in multiple ways throughout Springfield and Sangamon County:
- Clerk of the Sangamon County Water Reclamation District Board of Trustees.
- Member of the Springfield Convention and Visitors Advisory Board.
- Chairman of the Board of Directors at the Illinois Parks Association Risk Services.
- Member of the Illinois Technology Education Society Board of Directors.
Born in Indiana, raised throughout the Midwest, and a proud graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, C.J. first moved to the Illinois Capital City in 1999 to begin his public service career. He accepted a James H. Dunn Fellowship within the Office of the Governor and spent that year coordinating legislative affairs at the State Capitol. Though the Fellowship ended, C.J.’s tenure with the Illinois Department of Insurance and his loving marriage to Jenny was just beginning. Together, the Metcalfs are public servants, a regular presence at community service projects, and parent volunteers at Pleasant Plains sporting events.
